Now you may have seen in my recent post How to Style: Daisy Dukes that I’m a big fan of a sheer cover up, and this week I’m loving Kimonos. Originally from Japan, these beautiful patterned pieces definitely don’t look out of place on the streets of London.
I’ve been crushing on this sheer black and yellow print piece which I picked up in a Vegas boutique on my recent trip there. The material keeps you cool and the design pops against an all black outfit. Because there’s plenty of fabric to keep you covered up, you can totally get away with wearing something skimpy underneath, which is why these gorgeous garments are ideal for the beach, but are also perfect for a night on the town.
There are a tonne of kimonos on the high street at the moment and they come in an array of colours, fabrics and styles. I paired this one with a black ZARA denim button down skirt, a black PRIMARK crop top and some killer STEVE MADDEN heels (which take about a century to put on). They are from a couple years ago but don’t fret, I will link some equally annoying but beautiful sandal options below for you guys.
I love the maxi length of this particular kimono (admittedly a lot of them are maxi length on my 5ft3 frame). The sleeves are just perfect for keeping cool and breezy as the temperatures rise. These ones are full length, but I’ve seen a few pieces with a shorter sleeve and they look just as cute! Mine came with a matching swimming costume, but I reckon a classic black bathing suit would look stunning underneath this on a beach in the Costa del Sol.
Below I have linked some of my fave kimono options in the shops right now for you to have a spy at.
