Having just got back from Paris it’s fair to say that I’m in the most romantic of moods. Couple that with the official start of Spring and in my eyes that means spicing up my looks with pretty skirts, and pretty dresses.
I first clapped eyes on this print when I was about 13. Watching Pretty Woman for the first time. You know? The scene where she attends the posh polo match all spruced up in that gorgeous silk dress.
I remember thinking how elegant Julia Roberts looked. The brown colour suits the large polka print so well and due to the neutral tone it looks expensive and chic (even when it’s not silk).
Fast forward a few years (20 to be exact) and when I spotted this print again I was drawn to it like mini Hannah was all those years ago. Now of course Vivian was wearing a matching hat complete with silk polka dot trim, but this may be overkill for a spot of lunch in Chelsea.
I paired this skirt with caramel hues to keep it as the centre piece but this brown colour also coordinates perfectly with blue tones – such as denim. I’m loving the button fastenings down the front.
At this time of year knitwear works really well with a Midi skirt due to the contrast in the materials maintaining that warm feel. Slowly adding skirts into your OOTDs is a sure fire way to introduce some flair.
For Summer I can envisage matching the look with a white crop top and sandals, and unbuttoning a few of the buttons for an edgier look with chunky boots.
I love the length too; it’s perfect for my height (5ft4) and identical to the stripey one I featured a couple weeks back here.
I have linked the exact skirt below but all of the other pieces are from a few years ago – you know how I love to recycle. But in true Hannah style I’ve linked some similar options below.
I hope you are all having a great week.
