Layered Looks

You might have guessed by now, that I’m a sucker for layered looks. There is something so chic about a shirt dress on its own, but layer a bodice or sleeveless dress on top and it adds a whole new element to the look.

When I saw this dress in ZARA I could not resist it. Now, it’s a little awkward to put on, as it’s an over the head job, but once its in place it fits so well!! The belt keeps the outfit looking firmly feminine and fitted, by enhancing the waist on what could be an otherwise boxy number.

The khaki colour happens to be one of my favourites. I remember discussing with a friend once that khaki seems to suit several different skin tones. She’s Indian and I’m blonde with pale skin, so clearly it must be true! It’s such an easy colour to work with as well; tan looks so perfect with it, as does cream and all the natural earthy tones. Today I added a camel mac so that I could take the look into the evening and not feel the cold.

I paired it with yellow accessories to add some serious colour. Yellow is definitely a happy colour, and wearing it made sure that I was as bright on the outside as I felt inside.

Mules are really having a popular spell at the moment as we’re approaching spring and these yellow TOPSHOP ones from last year seemed to fit the bill. I don’t always get to wear them in London as they’re made of suede and liable to get ruined in the rain, but if you avoid the puddles they’re a fab choice. I’ve linked an updated pair from this season below.

The yellow suede bag is actually from MANGO (2004). It is one of my favourites and very well loved!! My only regret is not buying it in more colours at the time!!

As I’m currently in Lisbon and exploring every nook and cranny I included some SNEAKY SHOE SWAPS in my tote for the day.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!
