Statement Coats 🧥

Winter. It’s a killer. All this gloomy weather can put a dampener on your mood (and your outfit). That’s why I love a big splash of colour in my outerwear.

Neon colours, bright oranges and reds. I love a bright cheery colour to put a real stamp on what might otherwise be a pretty run-of-the-mill look.

I tend to pair my bright coats/macs with all-black clothes or neutral colours. Here I went for an old favourite – the black faux fur sleeve jumper – and combined it with black leather-look trousers to keep the outfit edgy. The contrast between the wool and the leather gives depth to the look and makes the individual pieces stand out, which makes the whole outfit a little bit more interesting.

On the subject of keeping things interesting, I also love to add a print into the mix. Animal print, especially leopard, is featuring heavily in high street collections at the moment. Since I’m all about mixing the old and the new, I dug out these old KURT GEIGER heels from my closet. However if you don’t happen to have a pair just waiting to be rediscovered, there are several cool boots in the stores right now.

Continuing the recycling trend, this mac is a 2014 ZARA piece. The colour crops up from time to time and I can’t get enough!!! I just love a cheery yellow. Any shade of yellow is a winner for me but I would definitely recommend experimenting with different colours until you find the bright shade that works with your skin tone.

I have seen bright faux fur options around but personally I prefer my eye-catching colours to be based on wool or cotton rather than fur. Just my preference; I prefer my furs to be more neutral.

Below I’ve linked some of my fave bright winter coats available in the shops now.

I hope you all have a great week!
